WPT Season #5: Bay 101 Shooting Stars $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em
WPT, 2007-03-17, by Ozone
This week, poker pro Ted Forrest added another accolade to his career resume, a WPT title. Already with five WSOP braclets, an NBC heads-up championship title, and an impressive career at high stakes cash game tables, Forrest turned his fourth appearance at a WPT final table into a $1,125,000 win.
The last person eliminated from the 450 player field was female pro J.J. Liu. Playing four-months pregnant, Liu's $600,000 payday was the largest in WPT history for a woman. Vegas pro James Van Alstyne quietly moved into the lead for Player of the Year with a fourth place finish good for $250,000.
In a largely unnoticed, but impressive feat, Bill Edler finished 6th in this event to set a streak of three straight WPT tournaments with a 13th place finish, or better.
The WPT's next stop is in Reno, Nevada for the World Poker Challenge which starts in eight days.
